North Eastern Hills of Lucca, Tuscany
Located on the famous 'Strada del vino', one of the most famous wine-producing areas of Lucca (7km away), this 18th Century villa stands at the end of a romantic olive-lined drive guarded by two tall Cypress trees. It is set in 7 hectares of olive groves and vineyards and has extensive panoramic views over the countryside to the impressive hills and walled city of Lucca. Florence and Pisa, the homes of renaissance art, are only half an hour's drive away. For those wanting to spend time by the sea, the beautiful pale sands of Forte dei Marmi are a 25km drive away. This 1930's resort is one of Europe's most famous and elegant, un-spoilt by high-rise buildings and mass tourism.
This classical Lucchese villa boasts many original features, such as an original olive-press in one of the wine cellars, and two beautiful stone staircases, enveloped in Jasmine, that lead up to the large living-room. All the spacious rooms are full of character with original 1930s tiled floors, their decorative patterns varying throughout the property. There is plenty of space for up to 3 families to share the property, whilst allowing for ample privacy. The ground-floor comprises of a dining room for 18 guests, a living-room with a wood fireplace. A study with fireplace is next-door to the fully fitted kitchen. There is a large storage room/ cellar with a full-size ping-pongtable. On the first floor there are 7 large double bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, all have W.C, bidet and sink. A very large drawing room.
Outside, in the well-tended grounds, there is a covered area for alfresco dining beside the herb garden. Thisincludes a stone-built barbecue with granite cooking slab as well as a conventional grill. The swimming-pool is set in the lower grounds beside the olive groves and is beautifully enclosed by bay-bushes. The pool area has sun-loungers, an out-door shower, an old-fashioned beach cabin as a changing area. There isalso a covered seating area.
