7.00am: Wake up with a run. Sloping cobbled streets take you down to the beach from residential areas including Monte Servo or, hike the Carvoeiro boardwalk, ending with a steep descent from the cliff tops to the famous Algar Seco rock formation.
8.00am: Collect your daily bread and pastéis de nata from Fabrica Velha Pastelaria. Stay for coffee on the terrace while the locals start their day.
9.00am: A Carvoeiro villa with pool is one of the most rewarding aspects of buying property in the Algarve. Make the most of it with leisurely laps before breakfast.
10.00am: For your morning golf, choose between 2 championship Pestana courses, Vale da Pinta and Gramacho. 10 minutes’ drive from central Carvoeiro, Gramacho makes a fantastic play for all handicaps. With mountain views and a countryside setting, it’s also home to villas like this.

1.00pm: Restaurante O Stop – the beach bar at Praia do Vale Centeanes – is our favourite lunchtime haunt for seafood and Rosé. This close to the border, a siesta (sesta in Portuguese) is also recommended. Beautiful gardens at this villa in Vale de Rei offer numerous shady spots for a nap.
4.00pm: “The sea is beautiful, the water is neither too hot nor too cold, the waves ….are gentle enough for paddling and discovering the coves” say the European Best Destinations experts, who named Praia do Carvoeiro Europe’s best beach for 2018.
