Thinking of buying property in Paphos? Lucky you! Whether you’re planning a permanent home here or a holiday getaway, your “to-explore” list will be endless.
The Paphos apartments for sale in Central Park Residences are a quality investment
Paphos itself is a UNESCO world heritage site with 8,000 years of history - just 20 minutes from the airport. A fortified harbour and countless archeological sites, including the Mosaics of Paphos and the Shrine of Aphrodite exist alongside five star hotels, markets and tavernas, with plentiful opportunity for seafood mezze. Exploring Paphos on foot is a perfect way to understand its history and character.
The beautiful blue-flag beach at Coral Bay offering watersports and shaded beach-bars, is a twenty minute drive westwards. A bus service to and from Coral Bay runs into the evening or you can take the opportunity to drive and visit the hillside village of Peyia. Just the smell of Olive bread from the village bakery will be sufficient to lure you, while winding streets, whitewashed houses and an ancient church will bring you back again.
The remote villages of the Troodos mountains - Treis Elies and Kykkos to name a few - are famed for their monasteries, pottery, unparalleled views and traditional Greek-Cypriot life; rest assured that a Greek Salad on the menu at a village café here will be about as authentic as it comes.
A hike up the steep inclines of the Kaledonia trail to the waterfall is also a popular activity and you can ski on Mount Olympus. A drive to Troodos Square at the foot of the Kaledonia trail, is approximately an hour and a half from Paphos. Hairpin bends and the odd encounter with a speeding farm truck are worth considering, as is a 4x4 in the winter months.
Paphos is around two hours by motorway from the capital city of Nicosia which houses Cyprus’s financial district and several universities. Nicosia has a fascinating, turbulent history, divided as it is between North and South Cyprus. In the Old City you can enjoy a Cypriot coffee and wander around the many traditional wood-working shops. Walking tours around the Green Line - the North/South boundary - are also available. Meanwhile, on Makariou Avenue in the newer part of town, if you can’t resist a bit of home from home, you’ll find a Marks and Spencer.
